Sewing with Joy
Sewing for my grandson makes my heart sing
Hi there! I’ve been away from here for a while. Between a couple of trips overseas and trying to plant my garden, my real sewing has had to take a back seat. My virtual sewing though, NEVER stops!
One of my trips took me to Utrecht, Netherlands. My sister and I spent 10 days, and one of (many, many) highlights was a trip to the fabric (textile) market in Utrecht.
Be still my beating heart, I was in my happy place.
I bought 7 pieces of fabric and 5 pattern books. The prices were fantastic; I scored top quality cotton/lycra knits for less than $5 Canadian per meter, PLUS a piece of laminated cotton, perfect for a rain coat at the same price. The pattern books were called “Poppy” filled with actual patterns for children and adults. I had never seen them before so bought 1 of each of the volumes the vendor had with her!

Sew I sewed! For my new grandson.
It was pure joy to sew and I look forward to giving this adorable outfit to him and his parents.
Do you have the pleasure of sewing for babies and children? Where do you find patterns and inspiration?
